I had an appointment set for today at 3:45 pm that was arranged with Greg yesterday when we spoke. Shortly after we spoke however I received an email yesterday that my appeal was linked ( the reason for my inquiry). I reviewed and it and I learned the Board made an adjustment. Thank you! I did have a question about the comps used by the Board As compared with the ones submitted by the Oak Park Assessor. They were different and am curious to know why the ones the OP assessor submitted were not used?

I had on online meeting regarding login problems with my B.O.R. Account and Ms Jill McCaw (with Cook Co. Board of Review) handled my case. First, Ms McCaw had fixed my login problem even before the appointment, and then made sure I was able to use the site properly, answering all my questions promptly, courteously, and knowledgably, and she did not let me go 'till I had successfully uploaded my Tax Appeal information to the B.O.R. site, and even told me to email her if I had any further questions/problems. I got stuck at first (no place to reset, no guidelines visible for password setup, can't tell in the beginning if your connected or not) but Jill was very helpful and stayed on the phone and walked me through. Once I saw how the website worked it was very easy. The software isn't a 10 but the help from Jill was.
Staff was very accommodating- but very arcane that you need to call to get an appointment to reclaim your user name or reset a password!

My experience has been GREAT! I have phoned twice, yesterday, 12/15 and today 12/16. On both occasions the person I spoke with was extremely knowledgeable and patient and answered my question. Karen sets the highest standard for responsiveness I've ever experienced in interactions with both Cook County and City of Chicago government administration. After encountering an online file upload issue with our 2020 BOR property tax assessment appeal, Karen came to our rescue not once, BUT TWICE: First late in the afternoon the day before Thanksgiving, and also on the day after the holiday. We're so grateful for Karen's great attitude, top quality customer service skills and thoroughness to resolve our issue quickly and effectively-especially knowing that she's working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you Karen for your outstanding help and support to get this technical issue resolved so we could correctly finalize and submit our appeal!

I had an excellent experience working with the people at the Board of Review. When I initially made the call, I was surprised at the kindness and courtesy that the gentelman on the phone showed towards me. He immediately assured me he could set up an appointment with someone who could help me. That afternoon I received two calls and the employee left me her name and email. The next day when I contacted her, even though she was off, she sent an email to a colleague who was able to help me. I also spoke to a person that morning who was willing to return my call as soon as she was back up on-line. This is the best service I have ever received. I worked with at least 4 representatives from this department and the customer service was outstanding. Thank you for your help and support! My issue was quickly resolved.
I found the online appeal process to be somewhat confusing. I created an account and a pre-file appeal. I later wanted to add supporting documents however I was locked out of my appeal. I called BOR and the two people I talked with (Allen Manual & Karen Arceo) were very helpful and I was able to add the supporting documents. I would suggest making the online appeal file process more user friendly.

The online appeal app could be better. I thought I had identified 5 comps but when reviewing the appeal at a later time there was no apparent way to verify it on my own. Also, I wanted to attach a narrative of why I was appealing and discovered, after several frustrating attempts, that the text file had to be converted to a pdf before attaching it. The app does not tell you that. It should be easier to use. The bright spot in my ordeal was Kren Arceo. She responded to my call for help and was very helpful. She was able to verify that the comps I provided were there, and she also clued me in on the need to convert the text file to a pdf. So, the downside is that the app should be easier to use, but the help provided was definitely a plus.

I was impressed with the people that I was finally able to talk to. My main goal was to make sure my MAILED in Complaint / Appeal No. was 'Linked' to My On-Line Log in account after it was received. I mailed it by "Priority Mail",(allows tracking), since no one is currently available for a Signature confirmation for my Appeal Packet at the Board of Review. Since I was using the "Wrong Browser", my BOR assistant helped me log in create a Complaint #. [The 'ASSESSOR' ended up losing my previous Appeal Packet + I was denied any resulting reduction!]
Extra thanks to Tonya Jones! She was so pleasant and helpful in solving my uploading issue. She had to go the extra mile to find me. Much appreciated!

Karen is lovely and extremely helpful. That said, I don’t like the login process. I had difficulty yesterday and today logging in. I used the same password as yesterday and the system said “Error:: invalid credentials.” I don’t know why the login takes so many tries to get into the system. Back to Karen though-she was great!

I set up an appointment through the online portal. I got a confirmation by email and a reminder the morning of the appointment. The Email said that I would either receive a phone call or an email. I got an email that allowed me to resolve my question. Good system. Thank you very much

We came to the Cook County Board of Review because we felt that we paid a lot, maybe too much in taxes, this year (our assessment in 2020 was 27 percent higher than what we paid for the house in 2016). Ricardo Noriega was extremely helpful in steering us in the right direction. He and the staff at the Board of Review have our deepest thanks. He, and they, did a great job.

Staff member I spoke with on the first 4 calls was friendly, professional but not helpful. She told me each time to keep trying online and call back if it didn't work. When I was ready to submit w/attachments, the website was down. 5th call talked to a gentleman who gave me detailed instructions and explained how the process works, I was able to submit my appeal, which was easy and not the initial problem and I will attempt to send attachments to my complaint # at the appropriate time.
